Analysis of Questionnaire Results;

Question 1 -Gender
From looking at these results i can see that three quarters of the people i asked were female. When designing my music magazine i can use this for my target audience.

Question 2Age

I can tell that the majority of people I asked were aged between 14 and 18, therefore this could be my target audience for my music magazine.

Question 3 – who is your favourite band/singer?

from looking at these results i could see that ‘All Time Low’ was a popular band with the people that i asked, with ‘Paramore’ and ‘Mumford and sons’ come close second. The most popular band will be featured on my music magazine.

Question 4What Music Magazines do you buy/read?
By looking at this chart i can see that NME and Kerrang! were the most popular magazines to read because they were both mentioned 12 times by the people i asked.

Question 5Favourite Colour

From these results i can see that blue was the most popular colour because 6 out of 20 people said this was their favourite colour, i will consider this as part of my colour scheme for my music magazine.

Question 6What do you most like to read about in magazines?

I can see that gig reviews and new music were the  most popular things to read about in music magazines, the least popular thing to read about was new bands, therefore in my magazine i will include gig reviews and new music.

Question 7How often do you buy magazines?

The majority of people i asked bought magazines fortnightly, however no one bought magazines quarterly so i won’t consider this when decided the frequency of my music magazine.
Question 8Words associated with the indie genre
In my questionnaire i asked them what words they would associate with the indie genre, some of the words that they said were ‘brown, yellow, red, Q, acoustic, good, orange, NME, rock, style, awesome and happy’ i think these words represent indie well and has given me some ideas of names for my magazine.

Question 9- How much would you pay for the magazine?

From these results i can see that 18 people out of 20 would pay around £3.00 for a magazine.
Question 10what mood would you want the magazine to have?
I asked 20 people what mood they would like the magazine to have, i gave them 3 options: Happy, Aggressive and Calm.  I found that 16 out of 20 people wanted the mood to be Happy, 1 out of 20 people wanted the mood to be Aggressive and 3 people out of 20 wanted the mood to be calm. Therefore i can see that ‘Happy’ was the most popular mood.

Question 11What do you like most about music magazines?

Looking at these results  i can see that the people i asked prefer to get free CD’s with their music magazines closely followed by free posters of their favourite bands/singers. the least popular option was badges therefore i will not include them in my magazine.
Question 12How many pages do you think music magazines should have?
I asked 20 people how many pages they think music magazines should have, 7 out of 20 people said that they should have around 60 pages, similar to Kerrang!, whereas only a few people thought they should have up to 70 pages.

Initial Plans For My Magazine;

I have decided that the price I will charge for my magazine is £2.50 because I think it is a reasonable price, the frequency of publication will be weekly. The average issue size will be around 60 pages as that is similar to the magazines that I have researched. The regular content of my magazine will be Gig reviews, new music/bands and posters ect. The main feature will be an interview of an up & coming new local band.
